Commission to Revisit Buffer Park Name Recommendations and Consider Renaming Stewart Street Park

As directed by City Council, the Recreation & Parks Commission will review name recommendations for Buffer Park and consider renaming nearby Stewart Street Park next Thursday (see staff report). Community members are welcome to attend the meeting and give input during public comment. Input may also be emailed to ccs@smgov.net before the meeting.

Buffer Park will be a new 2.35 acre park on Exposition Blvd between Stewart St and Dorchester Ave. Construction is expected to begin later this month. 

Stewart Street Park (1819 Stewart Street) is a 3.8 acre park featuring a playground, baseball diamond, soccer field, basketball court, and walking path. As the home of the free Jazz on the Lawn concert series, Stewart Street Park is a popular mid-city spot in the summer.
